News feed from Technical Help for Rover 75 and MG ZT

Hi there,

The upper arms on my rear suspension rusted through on my ZT-T 190 so I dismantled everything and reassembled with new parts. Now the car rumbles and makes metallic noises when I drive...

...what have I done to it? :-|

Everything came off, including the subframe which was shot blasted and repainted.
I bought new upper and lower arms from DMGRS and a new anti-roll ...

Does the crank pulley bolt need to be heated? If so how is this done if it is a good pulley that will be used as a spare?

A friend has used a Clarke CEW1100 3/4 drive corded impact wrench on the 22mm crank pulley bolt with the flywheel jammed by a tool at the flywheel. https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke- ... gICvvD_BwE

The crank was securely locked by the tool there was ...

I am seeking some clarity please regarding where the front exhaust manifold down pipe meets the front port on the catalytic converter.

The car in question is a Rover 75 1999 2.5 KV6..

The flange on the front exhaust manifold downpipe has 2 bolts and they are wider than the 2 bolts on the corresponding rear flange. I ordered 2 gaskets from DMGRS and they stated they are correct front and rear but the gasket ...

I'm now in the process of re-assembling the rear subframe and arms into the car. One item that has bothered me for a while is 'how to torque' the fixing bolts to the subframe. These are supposed to be done when the car is supported by the wheels (have I got that wrong?)

While I have a deep socket, once the subframe is pulled up to the under body, it doesn’t look like there is ...

As titled - I'm struggling to get something to work to remove this plastic nut, due to the shape of the nut and surrounding fuel filler pocket, I find that what I try is either too big or too wide or doesn't grip properly etc - I'm stumped by a plastic nut! :-?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated - I have changed the cambelts, camshafts and tappets on ...

Under supervision, a young nurse has a go at explaining the BMW M47 that is on a workshop bench

I found the explanation of locking the flywheel very clear and most helpful.

Would anyone know whether any shaft or pin of the correct diameter and length can be used if taking the crank pulley off?

I assume the locking pin tool is aimed at securely holding things in ...

A bit of a deep technical question. But maybe someone knows something I don't?
My understaning is that the IPK hardware and firmware is identical for all highline IPKs. The only difference is the contents of the EEPROM. I'm asking because I replaced the EEPROM on a petrol IPK with one for a diesel along with swapping the dial plate. Didn't work properly. My suspicion is I've done something else in the process, probably CAN ...

Hello all,

Could someone give me a steer please as to where this part fits? I am sure its part of the exhaust system and sits against the car bulkhead somewhere to stop it turning when screwing in/out a bolt. For the life of me I cannot work out where it goes. Its from a KV6 car.
