hi to all
yesterday the fan came on and stayed on but the temp gauge was normal i let the engine cool then i checked the water in the expansion tank it took 2 to 3 liters and i drove home then last night i went to look to see if i could see where the leak was when i looked on the road under the car it was on the drivers side so opened the bonnet and looked to see if i could see any water there was some on the top of the thermostat housing where the steel pipe connects to the thermostat started the engine i let it warm up then looked to see where the leek was and i saw water leaking from the steel pipe the o ring has failed my question can this o ring be changed without removing the water pump

I recently replaced my water pump and O ring. Rob (Trebor) posted about his experience with this issue=, from what I remember he just replaced the O ring. I will try to find his post and get back to you.

Cheers

hi to all
this morning checked the water level and the water level had gone down and 3 liters went in looked under the car and i could see water driping from the bracket holding the steel pipe to the engine so the pump could be leaking as well

The rear steel coolant pipe is known to corrode and leak, so it maybe needs to come off and checked which is not an easy job.

Also worth checking the Y connection to the head photos below the seal can fail and the Y also fail over time.

I use these to find exactly where noises near the belts are coming from
