Wish I could find enjoyable things to keep me out of trouble, last job was laying a new laminate flooring @£24 per m :( and trying to bend slatted insulation wall covering around a chimney breast, not recommended for the feint hearted ( No that is not a join in the R/H alcove its an offcut stood up against the slats)

I've dabbled with Linux in the past and been thinking of giving Mint a try of late to see how it copes with the browsing experience on a growing number of sites that are being borked without any apparent regard to the demands on hardware and resources. Aliexpress is a good example, I use it occasionally but its site has become painfully slow and cluttered over recent years and I sometimes give up and go elsewhere. I have an old copy of Puppy Linux on a live CD which I have put to good use, a live CD is a good way to get into a broken operating system to try to fix it or to retrieve stuff.

Having disliked Windows from the beginning, I built a Linux powered PC in a shallow drawer under my kitchen table with the monitor mounted on an arm on the wall. Just a keyboard showing on the table top. It's much, much easier with the newer versions of Linux than it used to be.

Most of yesterday was took up doing the weekly fluid, tyre checks and lights, on the FL2 and the Kong van, then clearing a blockage in the sewer system which gets blocked up every 2/3weeks, been like it for 12yrs or more now, seven Trent could not give a dam, mind the pun, then onto cooking dinner seabass peppers and rice, so Linux will have to wait no rush for it really as it's going on a spare laptop.

Freelander day here yesterday too, tyre pressure monitor came on and said front offside wasn't reporting ( not low pressure). Checked pressures all OK. Came out half hour later to investigate and it was then reporting OK. Suspect the battery in the wheel is on its last legs.

MY14 HSE doesn't have those thankfully, can never understand why they are on cars, you would know if your tyre was flat or low just by looking at them once a week or even everyday, after all it's a walk round the car? but we cannot stop progress

PS Dave i like those wooden slat panels very on trend.

Sitting waiting for my electric blanket to take the chill off my bed before retiring for the night. Dental appointment tomorrow afternoon which may or may not be my last with my current dentist. I pay for NHS treatment with him but he is going private only and a private plan with him will apparently cost ~ £17+/mth. I've yet to decide. :bed:

Bright sunny day here today but still a little breezy after the strong wind and rain of storm Bram. Hope everyone escaped any storm damage, I'm not aware of any local damage here but I intend going into town soon so should get a better view of the scene on my travels :)

Really needed doing first time change for me in my ownership had it 6 months now, i bet a lot of cars don't get these changed due to the difficulty of access on some cars, makes the Rover 75 pollen filter simple which only takes about 5 minutes

I did mine late last year, I think the person who designed that also designed the oil filter position on the engine

Yes oil filter is a bit awkward but my Frankenstein tool works great.

Been busy doing some Christmas things over recent days. Went to a candlelight carol service, the first since many moons ago and what an impressive service it was. Organised by our local Salvation Army with a brass band in attendance together with a stage full of very able choristers who did some set pieces accompanied by a pianist on a nice looking grand piano. The venue looked clean fresh and well maintained, the order of service had been printed on pamphlets placed on the chairs around the room which were complemented by a large commercial display screen to the front and to one side of the stage. Tea and cakes were available afterwards which I didn't avail myself of but all in all I thought it was a brilliant effort and hope to attend next year should it be repeated. :hail:

Planning is an unnatural process, much better to just get on with things, that way failure comes as a complete surprise instead of being preceeded by a period of worry and doubt

That's my Christmas tree out and up, just needs decorating which I'll take my time with and experiment a bit over the coming days. I can understand the disenchantment that some feel with the festive period, I myself do not like the over commercialisation that has become of it. I'm none too keen on the Yankification of the English language too, just had an altercation with the yankee spelling wannabees who were insisting that I spell commercialisation with a "z". :censored:

No chance he would not be welcome, he is part of the trouble in this country, him and his extended family have done no work in their entire lives, and lived off the state for centuries it just keeps going on and on, well I'm off to do battle with the marauding hordes at the shopping centres in a while :mad1: I'm sure most of them wear blinkers and not got a clue what they are there for, i like to get in and out within 30 minutes if i can.

Not a bad looking day here, clear sky and sunny but cold as to be expected at this time of the year. Christmas tree now decorated and its lights fitted and tested, think I will leave it at that as attempting perfection does not always end well. Might have a mug of coffee then venture out into town where I managed to bag a copy of John Nichol's "Eject! Eject!" book in a charity shop on a recent visit. "Sled Driver" by Brian Shul would be nice but I live in hope.
