Bright sunny day here in NE England. Managed to do Morrisons and the charity concert yesterday, the concert was in aid of Ukraine to raise money for generators to help them in the freezing conditions they are having to endure. I was surprised to see some local dignitaries in attendance and there were a few media looking types with cameras and video equipment so it might get a mention in the local news outlets. I pushed the boat out on the wine offer yesterday and bought a box of six bottles, seemed rude not to given its discounted price of £4 per bottle. I'm used to shopping at Tesco where I use its Clubcard, Morrisons have an equivalent which it calls a More Card hence the error in my previous post where I attributed Clubcard to Morrisons. :gmc:

Dry day today here in NE England though a bit overcast atm. Stayed up late last night to listen to The State of The Union Address from the US at 02:00 Uk time. Was hoping to hear something about action on Iran maybe in the humorous style of the late Ronald Regan: "My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Iran forever. We begin bombing in five minutes." Something that was said in jest during a sound check back in the day with the exception being Russia and not Iran was used in the jape.

I wish I hadn't bothered, I quickly began to lose the will to live and switched off the TV and went to bed. Twas akin to listening to a drunk bar-room braggart with a warped sense of reality. :bed:

Bright day here in Yorkie land so I was roped in to sort the wife's greenhouse out. All sorted but at what cost? I was supposed to learn the vocals on 3 songs for our band practice tomorrow, gonna be in trouble as i've not learnt a single line.

Weird few weeks, hereabouts. Have spent a few minutes out in the garden while it's been dry, trying to get rid of some of the leaves that have been there, wet, for months. No chance to do anything on the cars, but getting more determined to do so, especially Mog.

Trying hard to keep Nellie out of my head.

Mostly trying to deal with the admin that comes with losing parents.

Beautiful day here, it was 19ºC in the shade on my front steps at 14.00. Mowed the front yard, first time since last September. Then treated myself to sirloin steak, mashed spuds with green beans, gravy and horseradish sauce. Not fit for anything now except watching Reacher series 3 and trying to stay awake. :)
Been trying to teach myself a couple of James Taylor songs recently, starting with Sweet Baby James, don't have the wind for singing any more so the words are just in my head. :The finger style strumming patterns are fun. Been a favourite artist since I was 20.

looked at your post and thought Billy Taylor Mick. A jazz pianist who composed "I wish I knew how it would feel to be free" which was adopted as the signature tune for BBC1's "Film" review program. The late Barry Norman is the show's presenter I remember most though others followed and the theme music has always been a favourite. Click

Raining again here, after a couple of nice days.

Had the MGB out on Sunday, for its first run of the year and the 25 is having a new set of tyres fitted tomorrow morning, as the ones on it are starting to crack. They're never going to wear out, as it only does about 1000 miles a year!

Forecast for today was rain for the afternoon, so I walked into town to do the shopping. The Zafira is still in the garage after conking out and refuses to communicate with diagnostics.

That looks a handy tool, I find Aldi and Lidl tools to be quite robust.

Following on from the gardening day, I decided I had earnt a pint in the local. Note to self, never go to the pub at 5pm.
Turned out to be a complete night out and to make matters worse I had a hangover for group rehearsals. Stood next to a drummer who is determined to take the roof of the practice room is no fun when you feel worse for wear and you don't know any lyrics.

I know what you mean Steve, I keep buying tools that take my fancy although, due to advancing years, I have no intention of using them.

I've been doing the same for too many years. I realised a couple of years ago, I'd actually got two or three sets of some stuff. Would have been useful when working to have some at work, some at home and some in a box to take in the car. But it was far too much. Charity shop were happy though.

We spoiled ourselves yesterday evening. Up to the village hall, where a couple of local singers were doing an 80's night. They were very good, and we enjoyed it. Just what we needed after the winter!

Bright sunny day here in NE England, fairly mild outside too so I've spent the morning preparing some logs to take to a relative on Friday for their log burner. Got a couple of taps that require some attention but don't feel like starting on them this afternoon as the milder weather is more attractive to getting out and about. I looked at the outside stopcock yesterday and cleaned it up in advance, for some years I knew that illegal immigrants of the ant type had invaded and imposed themselves in the surrounding pipe and it was eviction time. I've noticed increasing ant infestations in recent years when out and about too, not in woodland walks but in urban streets. Birmingham will likely have worse given the refuse collection dispute that I gather might still be ongoing, I don't envy the pong that the rubbish must be generating. Time for a cuppa I think and to catch up on today's news on the TV. I see they are sending Ena Sharples to Cyprus, Duncan missed that bullet by way of being in a disorderly condition. :gmc:

I'm not disorderly! Getting a headstart on the pond filtration, and getting the patio clean.
