http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/defence/8412467/Shortage-of-RAF-pilots-for-Libya-as-defence-budget-cuts-bite.html

They're taking the top-guns for front line duties and stopping the training of the (few) up and coming pilots we have left.

Frying pan and fire come to mind

Cameron said that the march on Saturday wouldn't change anything. Perhaps when we end up with no aircrew left he might think about changing his mind.

All we need now is for the Argentinians to take advantage...

I know it was a bast er... a bit tough to even get a look in when I tried a couple of years ago. Even then they might as well have sat us all in a line and given us all numbers and said right, odds off you go, evens you might be considered. But now it must be so difficult. Ok you might get into selection but once youve passed, the post you were going for might not exist anymore unless you just want to cut grass on a station which is now closed to flying because the aircraft have been prematurely retired. :mad1:

Wait a minute, I can drive a tractor!!!!! :gmc:

We are getting more letters from RAF personnel than any other at the moment.
Unfortuneately we don't employ ex service staff from UK.

We have a similar but different problem John, our new apprenticies are fully acedemicaly qualified...most ex-uni.All very bright but have not got their hands dirty.some have never even held a rivet gun in their hands let alone worked on an aircraft engine.Don't get me wrong,we need as much young blood as possible at the moment for when us old dinosaurs go but I feel the "new way" i.e. theory first has its shortcomings.I did want to voice my frustrations of what our Whitehall guys are doing to our armed forces :mad1: ..but I feel I would have been censored by the Mods
