Oxygen sensor wiring locations by KENHAYES2477

A good day to all!

I am at the point where I am now ready to refit my KV6 Engine back into the car - Hoorah.

Before I do I am trying to locate plug locations for ease of fitting once the engine is in, at the moment I am struggling to find the plug for the downstream oxygen sensor within the wiring loom.

So far I have identified one connector on the front right of the camshaft cover near the oil filler cap.

Another in the same part of the loom as the oil pressure switch and VIS (Variable Intake System) motor connectors.

The 3rd I am at a loss. Can somebody give me a steer please as to wear in the loom it exits. I will also get under the car just in case its hiding somewhere under the exhaust tunnelling.

Many thanks

Ken

It's somewhere underneath, yes. Here's a photo from the manual:

Thanks Duncan, thats a start, i will go have a look.

Should anyboady be wondering why I am asking, when i took the exhaust off there were only 2 sensors fitted to the entire exhaust with no place for a third, otherwise I would have labelled it.

Found it, it was tucked up under the chassis behind the steering rack passenger side.

Thanks Duncan

Glad you found the third plug. Not all KV6's have 3 sensors. My launch model only has two and when I changed the exhaust it came with three tapings in the exhaust for the lambda sensors. Needless to say the third one has a non functioning sensor in it with no wiring attached. Perhaps guru Duncan can throw some light on that?

As I understand it earlier cars only had the two. One in each downpipe from each bank. Pretty sure my 99 built V6 only has two. Later cars had a post cat sensor. The post cat sensor is to monitor the performance of the cat which probably became a requirement in later emissions rules here in europe.
So why, I hear you ask, would all cars have that cable tucked away (assuming they do). The photo I posted from the manual shows where it is, so was there at launch (as thats when those photos were taken. I suspect it's for Japanese spec cars. I know that Japan spec cars had extra warnings to do with the emissions control for a number of years prior.
Being right hand drive, the harness would be shared with UK models, and the presence of the seat belt warning plug on UK cars, but no actual seatbelt warning switch, is my clue. So I'm guessing it was a Japanese requirement all along, and became a UK/EU requirement later on.
Sorry for the ramble.
