Does anybody know the nature of the "Audio Mute" signal found as a function in most recent vehicle audio systems please?

By nature, I mean, earth or voltage or resistance value :)

Mostly, the signal is pulled high inside the radio via a resistance, and the telephone pulls it to ground for mute.
