Mains powered battery charger - suggestions? by SpongeBob

I'm in need of a mains-powered battery charger (for the car battery). It doesn't need to be particularly elaborate.

I've seen a couple in Argos and many in Halfords all varying in price and specs and wondered what everyones opinions are, please? What should I be looking out for?

A constant voltage charger, sometimes called electronically controlled.

The best value ones come from Lidl and Aldi when they have them on offer. Usually around £14.

Better chargers often have a recovery function that can improve a slightly sulphated battery

I second the Lidl/Aldi suggestion - both cheap in cost and very good quality/spec..

I've been looking on their website every now and then but as of yet, no such luck in finding one :(

A couple of the same type on the bay:

and

the second one is in a box that I think is aldi, but might be lidl. Not sure whether the other one is from one of the two places but pretty sure it's the same chanrger by look and description.

Not mega high power, but good for your battery!
