lol I didn't buy it, but looks as though someone has as using the drop down menu now brings the listing up in grey, which I think means the car is gone.

Shame you didn't get to see it :(

It's not a proper Allegro, it does not seem to have that quadratic (or whatever) steering wheel.

I always found the slagging off that Allegros got amazing - if you look at an SD1 they also have one but no complaints about it.

My father who had 2 Triumph 2000Mk 1s , Austin 3 Litre, Triumph 2.5 PI then bought an Austin Allegro and he had no complaints, similar when he then got a SD1.

It seemed to be the fashion in the 70's and 80's to knock everything of British manufacture.

One of my Work colleagues has just bought a Mk1 (I think) Triumph 2000 and it looks to be a beauty, it also has a bit of History to it, including the appearance on teh Cover of a Haynes / RAC Publication, I am really looking forward to seeing the Car when he pops it in to work :D

Oh fanks Carl,

my father in law had one that he passed down to my brother in law... still have the photo of him washing outside our house just after he got it. I don't think it had the square wheel either. It was also brown but a much much deeper shade of brown than this sunflower brown one.

I can remember a mate running alongside one to check if it had a square steering wheel, then rushing back saying it had as though it was the most hilarious thing..

Carl, the Mk1 Triumph 2000 is no good without pics...and I mean quick ( he said Triumph-antly)

...meanwhile, look at the legs-room on this

or if you prefer the Dolomite..(sit down first)

AND DON'T LOOK AT THE 1960 TRIUMPH ITALIA while you're there! (bellissimo doesn't cover it)

First car I ever liked, and rebuilt an engine on was the 2000. Would still love an estate apart from the rust, diff, and so on. Mind you, Mk2 is my preference, I prefer the 'modern' lines.

My stepfather had one...it was the most ghastly vehicle I have ever experienced...bits would drop off on most journeys...if you went over 45mph it literally shook and the wind noise, combined with engine noise was painful...and it rusted, my God it rusted! Best thing about it, that was! :D They were not called ' Allaggros for nowt..

O M G !!!!!!!!!! That Dolomite was the most beautiful thing I have seen :D

I will push for Pics of the 2000, The Chap lives close to me so shouldnt be too difficult, I will also try to find teh publication I mentioned earlier. He also had lots of Photos of teh Car I assume was taken during teh 1960 /70 period - So would be nice to scan them for fans here :)

BMW owns the Triumph name and there are some rumours going around that they are going to ressurect the name.

However, there is some doubt as the US would likely be the target market and Triumph owners there find that very few people know the name Triumph.
