Yes always best to remove the starter motor and lock the flywheel when removing the HPFP which also has a special tool, you also need a 17mm allen key socket to remove the cap first, or use a bolt with an 17mm head and lock some nuts on it so you can turn and remove the cap that way.

All the above is only done after you have removed the starter motor, locked the fly wheel, raised the engine a little and removed the top mount etc.
