What to take off to change a clutch slave cylinder by Ed3

Does anyone know if there are short cuts to changing a clutch slave cylinder? Initial search seems that to access the slave there is need to drop the subframe and both struts are affected to get the gearbox out?

French Mike's "How To" describes how to change the clutch without removing the subframe, it is in this site's "Know How" forum but to read the PDF I think you might have to login. Link to PDF here: Clutch Change

Thanks That is really good. I just bought a 32mm impact socket and with a long bar both hub nuts came straight off. Which I thought would not happen. My neighbour has bought a 240v 3/4 drive impact wrench but we didn't need it.

I've not read through the "How To" so don't know if it mentions but some have found it much easier to get the gearbox safely on and off by using a couple of suitably long studs to hang it on and to help with its alignment. Studs have been made by cutting the heads off some spare long bolts which are then screwed into the first vacated upper gearbox mounting holes. This supports the box and allows it to be slid off and back on again when required plus it reduces the risk of damaging the clutch slave cylinder in particular.

Thanks. I have some old used Vauxhall cylinder head bolts. But if they are too thick I kept other bolts.
