Looks like I need to find another car before my MOT runs out next summer. And so not worth doing non essential repairs before then.
Yesterday, while jacking up the car, the rubber pad on the jacking point suddenly went high into the sill while other jacking point previously patched don't look that good for my next MOT. My usual welder has gone long term sick due to his lungs being damaged from welding. This 06 reg Rover 75 CDTi was a temporary stop gap in 2017 and only cost me £600 (8 years ago). It only had one previous owner who used it as a work horse in a rainy part of Scotland and unlike other Rover 75s, the bottom of the sills fall out as opposed to rust in view on the side of the sills. Every panel or area of this 75 is worn and aged, so that the car doesn't merit the expensive sill repairs to all four jacking points. But at least I have the luxury of a number of months to search for the next.
