rover 75 tourer front lower control arm by 9060davidj

hi to all
there is a knock coming from the near side front suspension jacked up the car with my hands at 12 and 6 i could feel and hear a knock undid the lower arm from the hub undid the nut from the tapered ball joint then tried hitting the sub frame for at least 20 minutes no joy can anyone help and tell me a sure way of getting it off with the sub frame off i used a sledge and it comes off that was a rover 75 i was scraping

If I remember correctly there is a tapered fork like tool, that makes easy work of this.

Ball joint separator.

Jack car up then put a bottle jack under the taper fork, leave that there and drop the car off the other jack, the weight of the car should push it loose, have you remove the back joint.

yes and it still it wont come loose i have now booked the car in to have it done at pit stop a local garage who is a mg rover enthusiast and drives a mg zt saloon

took the 75 to the garage at nine thirty and had the car back at two thirty i asked how much trouble he had to get the arm off he said he had to hammer the hell out of it to get it off the 75 is now back on the road no knock

Sometimes we have to revert to garages, unless you have lift which would make it a lot easier, nice to see you got it sorted.
