The last commercial flight of a DC-10 took off from Birmingham airport today at shortly after 15:00. Guess who was on it :)

And No. I don't believe it deserved its poor reliability reputation. Once early maintenance procedures were updated it was as reliable as any other commercial airliner in my view.

To somebody more at home with the utilitarian design of military transports Peter, an amazing foray into the world of luxury, and to my mind, more substantial than more modern jets.

Very true,I work with two guys who are ex Tristar........."The Queen of the skies" as one puts it,he even has a picture on the hallway wall.Me,a nice picture of a stunning, very fast (well was)white bird with a very pointy nose,on the sitting room wall!Sad are we not :-)
p.s. a nice video just sent to me and I will post up next in another thread.

I see that bird, and spit in fury at the administration which brought it to a dead stop, on a regular basis, even though she is now merely a shell.

When I went onboard the BOAC Super VC10 at Duxford I was amazed at the extra width of the seats compared to modern jets.

Cheers
