Last year I travelled to from Welling in Kent to Lochgelly in Fife Scotland, I use a Rover 75 1999 2.0L V6 Auto, The car was 3 up and had a full boot the car also had 18” wheels and a dual exhaust system.
My figures using the OBD (On Board Diagnostics) were

432.04 miles
33.4 MPG
50.8 AV mph

Tomorrow I will be doing the trip again following the same route; the only difference this time is I’ll be using my Rover 75 2.5 V6 Auto LWB.

So lets see some guesses and the member with the closest will win the honour of winning

My first guess: your average speed will be less than 70 mph again.

My second guess: 33.9 MPG ;)

Damned good fuel consumption in my view Andy :)

Clearly, the weight disadvantage of the LWB doesn't amount to a great deal.

Combined with a pleasant trip, what more could you ask?

Bags all packed and will be leaving here about 10:30am.
Should be home about 17:30 as long as the traffic is good, I'll post up my full obd results for my whole 2 weeks of running about.

Have only just seen this thread.

I was going to guess that your fuel economy would be better than the 2.0 V6, but I see you have already made the trip.

My theory is the larger engine is less stressed maintaining motorway speeds.

My SRi Cavalier used to get better motorway MPG than the 1.6 I had before it.

I guess in your case it is the extra weight of the LWB that is counteracting the benefits of the larger capacity engine?
