Instrument pack IPK reprogramming. Petrol and Diesel version by Duncan

A bit of a deep technical question. But maybe someone knows something I don't?
My understaning is that the IPK (Instrument pack (IPK from the German)) hardware and firmware is identical for all highline IPKs. The only difference is the contents of the EEPROM. I'm asking because I replaced the EEPROM on a petrol IPK with one for a diesel along with swapping the dial plate. Didn't work properly. My suspicion is I've done something else in the process, probably CAN (Bus Controller Area Network) related. Has anyone changed a petrol to diesel, purely be changing the EEPROM? I'll be sorting the problem by replacement anyway, but just wanting feedback from anyone who has done this.
