Not happy, I have been quoted £3,500 + vat to install a new gearbox from a local dealer.

The box started playing up and I lost all gears apart from 3rd, which was not much fun as I was 60 miles away from home/office so I had a slow drive home in 3rd.

I have got the cost done to £850 +vat from a local gearbox company and that includes fitting and a 12,000 mile or 12 month warranty

I'm so glad that this is the firms van and not my car, the only good thing is that I get to use my car everyday at the moment and get paid to drive about in it :)

Btw the van is a 56 plate Vauxhall Vivaro on 135,000 miles oh and let's not forget I've already had a recon box fitted in 2010 for a cost of £1500 which is of course now out of warranty.
