Body control unit by kiwirover

Can anyone tell me what functions this unit controls. My heated rear screen is not working, no power to the screen, someone suggested that the BCU (Body Control Unit) could be the problem.

Have you checked the connections on the rear screen, and the fuse for the screen, Duncan may be along and he can advise you on the BCU.

Could be the relay that needs changing.

In the mean time have read of these.

Hi. Yes, the BCU controls the heated rear window. Actually it switches a relay. The relay is fed from the battery, via link 7 in the underbonnet fusebox. The relay is marked as R138 in the diagrams.

I'd say the BCU is the least likely to be the problem. Is yours a tourer? Broken wire where it comes through the hinge area? Check fuse and relay too (relay by swapping is easiest). Check the earthing on the other side of the screen. If a saloon, could also be the filter boxes either side.

Thanks Artic and Duncan, very helpful. I didnt realise that there were two filters on the saloons. The diagram in Haynes manual shows relay R2 for the HRW, is this incorrect.
On another matter has "The Rover 75 and MG ZT owners club" gone now?

HI No the owners club is still going but not as it used to be because, you have to pay £10 for the same info you can get on here, if you don't subscribe then you can not post any questions on there.

TBH, I'm not sure. It could be referred to as R2 within the box.
