One of the racing heroes of my youth. Great driver, great designer, great engineer along with John Cooper.
Another one bites the dust.

Yes and driving in the days when one mistake and you stood a good chance of getting killed

Planning is an unnatural process, much better to just get on with things, that way failure comes as a complete surprise instead of being preceeded by a period of worry and doubt

I watched him race about 10 years ago, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, when my late pal and another great driver from yesteryear Peter Gethin was involved there.
Sir Jack competed in the same car he'd driven in his Championship years at the circuit. He lapped faster, despite being 40 odd years older!
When questioned by 'Murray' afterwards he replied with typical self effacing modesty,

'I think the tyres are so much better these days'

A true gentleman and a great man.
