I am replacing my intercooler on my diesel 75, it is a used replacement.

What is the best way to clean these?

Hi Mike first tip out any oil in the intercooler, then spray the fins and inside with engine cleaner, buy a couple of bottle cost about £1.89 each, use one full bottle for spraying, the other bottle is to be used for pouring into the intercooler after blocking the ends with rags all but the one you pour the cleaner into, then close that end with a rag too, hold the intercooler straight in both hands and shake it back and forth, do this for about 5 minutes, then lay it down and wait an hour or so, repeat the shake this time empty out and oil or sludge, now you can jet wash the outer fins and through the intercooler, next you can either use an air line if you have one to blow it through, if not use a rag and push it through with a rod to the other end and pull rag through hang it up and let it dry out for a few days, it is then ready to fit on to the car.

Are there any disadvantages in using the GM intercooler (as listed at Rimmers)?

I read somewhere that they are not as good as the original.
