Before I joined the RAF I worked with a commercial lanscaping company. One of the jobs was stone picking.

For example, you prepare a sportsfield, of a size to contain say, four football pitches. Before you seed it, you walk the whole area picking up stones bigger than the size of a pea. Back-breaking and mind numbingly boring.

Cogito ergo sum... maybe?

Changing electricity meters. Single phase - two wires in two wires out. Three phase - four wires in four wires out.

Once you've done 1 you've done them all. Did it for some 8 years.

Working in a nursery packing cut flowers for dispatch to market.

Was in the school holidays some time ago. 1956 if I recall correctly.

Been much better since though.
