I had a man in front of the Bench this morning charged with sexual assault. He pleaded guilty.

He was aged 80. His victim was his nine year old great-granddaughter.

I don't intend to tell you what he did. Suffice to say we sent it straight to Crown Court.

What he said upon his arrest was interesting though:-

"I'll 'ave 'er before she's very much older as well."

Makes you wonder what tales his daughter(s) and granddaughters could tell.

No doubt, in some families, the great granddaughter would be ostracised for bringing disgrace on the family.

Droit du seigneur is still practiced in some parts of the Black Country unfortunately but this character went way beyond in my view.
