Is a "turbo" 1.8 built in to the engine or can it also be added, as an upgrade, see I told you it was stupid

No such thing as a stupid question, although there may be sometimes some pretty dumb answers. ;)

It would not be cost effective to add a turbo as there are so many changes to the engine and engine management. It was never an add-on as such. So, not impossible, just cheaper to buy a turbo car.
I don't like signatures, they take up too much screen space.

It's possible to bolt on a turbo however it would require a great many changes, as the turbo K series had a lower compression ratio if memory serves but the gearbox was also different. It was geared so that at 60 you were doing around 2,500 rpm whereas in a non turbo you're doing a bit more. It would be possible to get a turbo engine and gearbox and drop them in but it'd be easier faster and cheaper to buy a 1.8T. There's plenty of Connie 1.8Ts on ebay. Some nice white gold SE estates, with the projector headlights :)
