Gear change is getting a bit stiff on the 190....always seems to in the cold since I changed the transmission oil....but today, I noticed a slight whine when the clucth pedal is pushed in.....how long have I got? :( :?

Which trans oil did you put in? The chap who Richard bought his ZT from, had to have the gbox in his x-type flushed as the oil had sort turned into a mayo like substance.

When did it have it's last clutch?

Original clutch......oil is the Castrol equivalent iirc of the recommended stuff...

I got 115000 out of my MK1 Escort and it was still ok....ish... :D

I found the Castrol equivalent, well, wasn't. When cold, very notchy. And that was after doing my clutch, so not the clutch.

Got peed off, and changed it again for the proper stuff. Much better!

Zeb, Ialso have been hearing a whine for a while now and it got confusing as it was happening when Amy wasnt in the car :lol:

Think mine is the thrust bearing which was changed when Andy did my clutch about 5k miles ago, was a cheap ebay one so should of known better :hissyfit:

Zeb, be interested in the result of changing gearbox oil, my 190 is siff as hell when very cold, improves a bit as the car gets warmer but still stiff Dave
