Hello, Just before I went away for a week without the car the passenger-side headlight wouldn't turn off. I didn't have time to see to it, so when I came back it was still just about on so I called RAC. The agent removed the bulb and sold me a new battery which immediately solved the problem, but he said it would need further attention. Now, despite emailing numerous garages, mechanics, I can't find anyone or anywhere to look at it. Hardly anyone has replied to email in fact. By the way, the sidelight isn't working now, either, connected to the headlight, I suppose. I'm in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, my car is a 2004 75 Connoisseur. I would greatly appreciate any assistance in finding a suitable mecahnic/garage. Many thanks.

The problem is more than likely the wiring loom as it passes over the chassis leg, they are known to rub through.

Also worth saying that water can get into the lightswitch module and cause all sorts of odd problems. Especially if your car has a sunroof. Deffo worth an urgent check as things can go really bad from water in there. Drop the knee roll (under the steering wheel) then just three screws and the light switch module slides out. Unplug the connector (there's a white bar that you move) and look for green corrosion and / or signs of damp. And do it sooner rather than later in case it is that. If you can't, then disconnect the battery until you can.

Yes i did mine back in 2020 a few photos below so others know what we are talking about.

Panel below the steering column two screws to remove.

Then you can pull off the panel a few clips at the top are just holding it on.

With the panel removed you will see a screw at the bottom of the (LSM) light switch module, remove this.

With that screw removed you then need to remove the two at the top of the LSM.

The LSM module can now be pulled forward.

You then remove the screw retaining clips.

Also the one at the bottom.

With those removed you replace them with the female part of the scrivet.

Bottom one.

Offer the LSM back to the car this time using the male part of the scrivet.

Now do the same with the panel replace the fixing with scrivets.

You can use the screws that were originally used or use some stainless steel ones with a larger head.

The panel should now be able to just pull out of the scrivet with out using a screw driver in panic mode

I will post up how i did or intend to put a cover over the top of the LSM at a later date, unless Stewart has some photo to post of how he did his.

I've just come back to have another look (having not much luck so far finding a suitable garage/mechanic in the Shoreham/Worthing/Brighton area) and there's a note on the images to say content not viewable in your area. Seems odd, I could see them just after they were posted.

I use proton, it's a free VPN. when I log on to the internet via its server (out of the UK) all the photos of yours in this thread are visible

I have a VPN with my antivirus, but you have to pay to upgrade to a non-UK server.

The free version on proton randomly choses from one of half a dozen or so none UK servers at random. If you want it to be server specific then you have to pay but there really is no need

I use AVG, can't remember the cost, but it is about £20 a year.

That’s weird.

I’ve just scrolled back up through the thread and some of the photos are visible and some aren’t.

That’s without a VPN.

I just open the proton app (proton.me) and press connect, it finds the fastest free server out of the UK and then all your pics are visible
(Spent far too long trying to rotate this god damn picture)
