Three Rover household by Duncan

As of about an hour ago, we have another Rover in the household. Just bought a 45 diesel to use for work and back as it will be racking up massive mileages. The 75s will be used as a special treat, or by my OH who does less miles. Once I replace the stat on the tourer, I might use it more if the MPG improves, but at it's current 35MPG I can't afford to run it to my new job in Coventry (not mentioned earlier as my current employer didn't yet know).

I could bring it Sunday to get some jobs done on it! First one is to take the three foot of slack out of the throttle cable. Can't wait to see how it goes when I can actually get full throttle travel as it's quicker than the 75 even now, mainly down to being a lot smaller and lighter. A headlamp bulb also seems to have died on the journey home. Hope it's not as daft a job as the 75!

Massive miles without the comfort and ambiance of a 75?
Sounds a bit masochistic. ;)
I don't like signatures, they take up too much screen space.

Yes, but it's the next best thing, and I would cry if I turned the 75's into hacks in the same way.

i liked my 45 diesel and prior to my 75 it was likely the best car i had it would do 50 mpg with little effort. i had some slack on the throttle which i adjusted my self , as to the lights well i think the 75 is easy compared to the 45 , took me a couple of hours to head a headlight bulb on the passenger side , i had to move the battery in the end .....

Yes, thank god its the drivers side. You've just reminded me I had the same on my 400. The passenger side bulb was impossible without removing the battery. It seemed like you could just do it, but after hours of pissing about the battery always came out.

the drivers side was better . of all the cars I've had , it was the worst for doing the the front lights. the 75 is easy after the 45

if you got the ref's right mine certainly wasn't slow other wise much turbo lag. though i think at the end it wasn't as good but as i traded it in for the 75 who cares , maybe the maff was on the way out ?

Well, I've found a problem with it already. ABS (Antilock Braking System) sometimes kicking in at low speed and sometimes the lamp coming on. Seems it's a common problem as they age, and luckily replacement parts are cheap enough at less than a tenner per side.
