How come (much bigger) sites such as Amazon and eBay never go down due to "huge demand"?

Makes me think that perhaps it's some sort of gimmick, as otherwise they've done well to get this page knocked up quickly, including the little green man walking across!

On the other hand, it's likely that people seeing that they had to wait 19 minutes to get in would simply not bother? :confused:

Could be a marketing ploy - make the public think that so many are accessing the site there must be absolute bargains to be had.

Notice that they even have a system for queuing - QUEUE-IT

Remember being in a market once and a chap was selling off of the back of a lorry:

'Ok who wants this last set of crockery'

Someone bought it.

He then picked up another box of the same crockery 'who wants this last box of crockery'!
