Redundant workers to get £3 compensation by carlpenn

Just came across this today.

Disgraceful is all I can say, if it is true.....

It has taken seven years, but laid-off workers at Britain's last major car maker, MG Rover, look to have secured a tasty redundancy package from their former employers.

The compensation fund is £22,000, meaning each of the 6,500 workers will receive a massive £3.

That's right, £3. And this from a manufacturing company whose owners took away £42m (they bought MG Rover for £10 in 2000 to huge cheers from the factory staff).

Understandably, this news has not gone down well with the former workers as they were promised a share of over £50m when the plant closed in 2005. They clearly weren't warned just how small that share would become.

They are going to ask the Phoenix 4 to chip in to the fund - I wonder if they will use one finger or two to signal their answer.
