Recommended software for PC please? by Duncan

Needs to be free or cheap, but needs to work well. There often is something out there that does both.

I need two things: Virtual CD drives, and to image a hard disc to transfer to another.

It's all to do with getting my new touchscreen tablet to run the T4 (Testbook version 4.Computer Diagnostic System), but I want a full backup of the hard disc before I start!

I've used HDClone from Miray (http://www.miray.de/products/sat.html) in the past and it worked without any problems. The free version is slow, but works.

Daemontools lite is free and works on the T4, I use it. A free trial of acronis will do a complete 1:1 hdd clone, you get 30 days free. I had to take the hdd out of both machines though and use a 3rd to do the clone, but this was because it was easier!

Thanks guys. I'd looked at Acronis, but it's expensive for my use. Of course I never thought I only need it for a couple of hours.

I'll probably use daemontools lite too, since we already know it works with T4.
