OBD Reader by Mad-Monkey

Mad-Monkey
Does anyone know what the cheapest, legitimate OBD (On Board Diagnostics) readers are? I've bought a few that need to have specific versions of drivers/software installed to work. As soon as they are updated its game over, and a full restore of the OS is required. eBay seems to be hit and miss on clones and prices.

Anyone point me in the right direction, I only want to pull some data over the K-Bus without resorting to spending hours configuring my laptop.

Thanks

Do you have a serial port? Could you add one by USB? A level shifter RS232 to K-bus or K-line (the interface will do either) is not hard to construct.
