... As I understand it, they've now writen off somewhere in the region of £4.5 billion of taxpayer's money, to save a potential £2 billion in the unspecified long term

Further money to be paid out to 'save'

"Look. We need to save money so here's an extra £200 million on top of the £4odd billion we've already shelled out. So if our calculations are correct we should now be able to save £2 billion over the years. That's erm... £200 million per year... maybe... at a guess." My god, that's not even enough to pay for the MP's excesses... sorry, I meant expenses.

That doesn't even begin to consider the question of the lives that will be lost with no Nimrod fleet either

Cogito ergo sum... maybe?

If BAE had sorted this out properly, with their many failings, from the beginning we would have had the planes.
How come we have to pay for their cock ups and mis-management.
Who ever wrote the contract wants shooting!!

Nothing mentioned there about "hiring" specifically designed Boeing's to do the job from the USA.

"My lovely car now sold onto a very happy new owner.
I still love this marque and I will still be around, preferred selling to breaking, as a great runner and performer"
