... but Virgin Media have just managed it.

Broadband speed and connection reliability has been diabolical here this afternoon and, as usual, going to VM's "Service Status" page tells me all is in perfect order... NOT.

So I phoned them up only to be told, be a very knowledgeable individual that the problem is the hot weather. It causes havoc with the fibre optics... apparently

They need to use gold plated connectors, then the heat wouldn't be a problem.

Gold plated connectors... on a fibre optic... that's a concept to be juggled with Duncan

Ah - I see what you mean

I have to say though, that some people do tend to take advantage of the gullible. The fibre optic links on the Typhoon are, shall we say, mission-critical, but gold plated connectors?

Our VM was down this morning. I phoned the helpline and an automated message explained that Virgin Media is working to improve it's service. The broadband service at 'my postcode' will be etc etc etc..resume your service as soon as possible.
