Does the thump happen after the car has been parked for a while, when you first start off?

hi duncan. no it can happen at any time. some days it does not happen at all.one thought i

Possibly Hand Brake shoes, as Duncan is alluding to.

Handbrake shoes can stick causing it when starting up. I guess if the springs aren't holding them off it might cause this. I must say the inside of the discs where the shoes fit can get full of crud. Maybe some is breaking off and causing the noise.

In any event you need to get the whole thing removed as it should be obvious then.
