Meridian Line, Greenwich by Dave

Just saw an advert for this at the bottom of a web page which said

"Stand on the world famous Meridian Line at the Royal Observatory Greenwich - BOOK NOW!"

Has this always been a paid thing? I'm sure I recall in the past that it was just a (metal?) line on the floor that anyone could get to and have their photo taken on?

I was last there in the 1970s and, as you say, it was just a line on the ground.

It still is just a line, but I did recently hear you now have to pay. Last time we visited it was free.

Pretty sure this passes fairly close to where we live in Lincolnshire - and they don't charge you to straddle it!

East Kirby is close to the line. Are you close to this?

Go to the site, knock the _(geography) off of the end of the url, search for that then select 'Meridian Geography' and you get to the site - note the url
