If you are coming to the Nano see if while there you can get the O-rings changed, the Fuel filter fit the Maf maybe go back too the original EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve) change the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve) filter all the above would only take about 90mins worth a try in my opinion then get it on T4 (Testbook version 4.Computer Diagnostic System) see what then happens Arctic.

Unfortunately I can't make the Nano. I have changed the Fuel Filter and Housing, the PCV filter was changed 4,000 miles ago, but yes a good idea. I hope to be up within the next two weeks or so to take up Paul's offer of elimination.

Hi Martin,
Sorry to hear of your woeful problems.
I just want to throw in an experience of mine..........in a hired Chevvy motorhome in the US.

EML came on so I 'phoned the hire company and they said "ya all don't worry about that just undo the fuel filler cap to release the partial vacuum created in the tank and it'll be fine, it happens a lot on these"

I know it's a very slim outside chance, but could it be some sort of problem at the fuel tank breathing / venting end of things creating a partial vacuum? The symptoms of it coming on after 60 miles and (possibly) being affected by temperature changes could indicate this sort of thing?

It's just a thought to throw into the diagnosis pot?

The diagnosis test is cheap and easy. Reset your EML with your cheap tool. Drive with filler cap off/loose.

Thanks Rob,

I've got an OBD (On Board Diagnostics) re-set tool and I'll try your suggestion as you say its well worth a try and may throw up what could be a fault.

Sorry to say it won't be the filler cap. In the US they have extra diagnostics, including fuel tank leakage detection, and filler cap loose detection, both to detect leaking petrol fumes. So good advice on petrol US cars, won't be the issue on a European spec diesel.
