Confused with iPhone 4 unlock. by JakeWilson

Afternoon Gents,

I've bought a second hand iPhone 4 off of ebay to use out here in Germany. I've got my T-Mobile microsim installed, but it appears the phone is locked.

The phone was on Vodafone, but as I don't have an account with them they won't unlock it, and T-Mobile won't out here as it's not their phone.

I've read some articles on jailbreak and unlock, but then it got talking about things I've never heard of...

Anyone here able to help?

As you are not able to do it direct on the phone, you'll have attach it to a computer and download some software. It should be self explanatory. http://www.unlockiphone4help.com/

Hi jake,
Just for info, jail breaking is not the same as unlocking. Jail breaking just allows you to run software that apple hasn't authorised. There may be some unlocking applications available to unlock your network provider, but you might need a specific firmware version for it to work. Another site with loads of tutorials is

iclarified.com

Look at the tutorial section then the iPhone section of that. It's got step by step instructions for most stuff complete with software links. Hope this helps,

Ian.

Agreed, I'm not sure if you have done this yet? There are plenty of sites which can provide help with this, some even offer email support, like this one: http://unlockiphoneace.com/

Hope this helps!
