... I remember that we all liked the fireworks on November 5th.

But I seem to remember that the magic was to do with the lights and colours and patterns with the occasional banger for good measure.

There is a firework party going on a few doors down from us as I'm writing this and all it seems to consist of is massively loud bangs which rattle the windows and very little, it has to be said, in the way of visual display.

Am I imagining it or has the emphasis changed from stunning pyrotechnics to an attempt to recreate the conditions which prevailed during the battle of the Somme?

I always liked the bangers. You get locked up these days for what we used to do with them.
I don't like signatures, they take up too much screen space.

Ditto on the bangers. Flash Bombs were my favourites.

Oh yes, I was printing out some new price labels at work today and out printed a page full of Cadbury's Easter eggs and all manner of stock we don't even stock this time of year... It quickly found the bin. I may have also told the Merry Pringles advert being shown now on tv what to do with itself. I will feel festive at exactly 15:00 on 24th December when I finisih work and go to the pub. As for fireworks I can remember when the standard ones went with a good flash and a decent bang (madam) now everyone goes for JTF specials which have a bit of flash and a bit of a pop and weve just had bloody haloween aswell...

Time for a cup of tea now I think

Yep, all bang and little glitter. I do remember being excited by airbombs...but it was the red spike on the bottom that made them seem high tech, modern and errm ...plasticky.
My dogs going to be exhausted with all this barking and running from one door to another. He feels compelled to constantly be on alert.

What's the Bonfire night equivalent of "Humbug"? "Damp Squib" perhaps.
