I am told someone on here sells VIS (Variable Intake System) motor testers?

Don't know of anyone building them at the moment. I have built dozens for members in the past but at the moment time is at a premium. there will be someone close no doubt if you want the loan of one.

If I had the plans I could build one. (I'm an electronics wiz)

Your wish is my command :D. Idealy you need a par of plugs from the engine harness, althouth initially they appear the same they are not.
Pin configeration is different and to stop you plugging the wrong plug in to the wrong Vis they have different back out tabs. Power one is grey balance one is black. On an engine loom there are 5 suitable plugs as the same plugs are used for the sensors. But only two have the correct pin / wire colours.
Only connect one vis motor at a time to the tester as otherwise a faulty Viz can allow a power feed back through the ECU (Engine Control Unit) signal wire this will just confuse you when trying to test one vis the other could operate :(.

Brilliant, Thank you.
So it's just a couple of switches, anLED, loom plugs.(I have a spare engine loom) and a 9V battery.

How do you operate it ? All the info I find seems to be with the Unit in situ.

I don't understand what the VIS motor does other than operate the butterfly's (I guess) I will need a faulty one to play with to see why it fails. (or do more reading/searching).
I have a new spare manifold in store to view.

Why is it not just a shut/open system ??

Thank you.
I well understand the ZTT400 I have, I am still learning about the ZS

Power ones usually over rotate or suffer from dry joints. Balance ones usually fail due to oil ingress. We have improved on the original design a little already ;)

The bush looks interesting. Where do you get them from ?

Led just confirms 12v signal out to ECU.
The "bush" is a sealed bearing.
The top switch directs the current of the relevant vis, the lower switch is simply a control line to alter the direction of the motor.

Dave, are you still doing these, as Ed needs a Balance VIS, but I know that you've had time issues of late?
