Will 1.8 springs+dampers work on a diesel?
What effect will it have on ride/handling/durability?

:mad1:

Ordered by mistake, gave them my squab codes and car details and got the 1.8 set anyway.
Considering using them if they don't have a proper diesel set because:
Rimmers price for just two front springs+two front dampers is just over £500.
Price for the 1.8 set, pre-assembled = £300.

Big difference :/

I suspect if you fitted them, the engine would probably drag on the floor. The difference in weight between the two engines is substantial.

Difference is apparently 95kg between the CDTi and the 1.8T, and I'm guessing most of that is over the two front springs.

The £300+ for a pair of shocks from rimmers is very hard to stomach.

The complete set is what I bought(and a cracking deal it is too, considering you don't need to take your life in your hand compressing springs).

I would ask if anyone on here needs a 1.8 set and send them yours and order the correct ones from them or ask them if they'll exchange?
