Sooner or later there will be a man walking in front of each car, not with a red flag but a canary in a cage. If the canary dies then all traffic must stop.

So what about eco's doing a gazillion to the gallon and hybrids running on battery who pay practically no tax, they should be able to drive at 70mph then.
If at first you don't succeed, hide the evidence.

Or the pollution in disposing of the batteries... OR the fact that it can cost £4000 to replace them... ouch.

Toyotas Prius when first sold had a 5 year warranty on the batteries that they subsequently dropped to 4 years about 3 years ago.

Owners may not be so smug when it comes to replacing them and without looking I presume that residuals drop dramatically with age.

It is all 'brush it under the carpet' stuff. Looks good superficially but take the whole in to account and somewhat different.
