It's been a long time since I had an iPhone but I well remember how ridiculously difficult it was to get ringtones into the phone.

Now equipped with an iPhone 6 and iTunes I gather it isn't anymore intuitive than it used to be.

OK, I have a folder on my PC with lots of M4r ringtones.

Please can somebody tell me how to get them onto my iphone... that is, without iTunes taking over my PC.

Thanks :)

Use someone else's PC and let iTunes take that over? Seriously, I think I had to use iTunes.

I don't mind using iTunes Duncan but if I recall, if you're not extremely careful, it takes over all your media.

I don't mind using iTunes Mick. I just need somebody to walk me through the procedure.

According to iTunes I have the ringtone on my phone but it doesn't show up in the ringtones list on the phone.

Did you do steps 12 and 13? I did it before I had the mac, but can't find the instructions I followed.

I already have a set of M4r files on my PC Duncan so step 12 isn't required. My problem is getting them into my iphone so i can see them. Of course, it doesn't help when the itunes sidebar, which everybody used, had been permanently deleted from itunes 12 :(

Instead of the sidebar you'll find icons at the top of the window now.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
