For advice on use of PM service:

If a message hasn't been read it will stay in your outbox until read,
once read it goes to the sent messages folder.
Whilst the PM is still in the outbox you can edit it or even delete it if required.

Cheers for that. It is still in my outbox, but he has definitely been on the forum since I sent it. The problem with PMs on this forum is that there's no pop-up message to alert you there's a message waiting... so its very easy to miss the fact there's a message waiting for you.

You can get pop ups when a new private message is recived.

Go to your setting and then click the Board Preferences and about half way down you can tick the box to receive a pop up new window.

Is there any way to make it default to "on"? as if a user doesn't actively change it, they may never know that they have a PM...

Oh and to keep this on topic.... CEEDY YOU HAVE A PM :)
