Interesting that most are bucking the trend and naming their cars as males!

Ours always end up as male, and normally with names that have no logical bearing on anything else!

The 75 is called Henry (Gill came up with this as the salesman at the garage we got him from was called Elliot Henry and I didn't fancy a car called Elliot!)

The naming originally started with Colin the Capri. Then we had:-

Roger the Rover (827)
Kevin the Cavalier
Ferdy the MGB
Michael the Cavalier
Woody the Daewoo
George the Ford Probe
Monty the MX5
George II the Probe (identical in looks to the first one)
Bertie the MX5

Our 75 has always been regarded as female but the V8 is most definitely all male.
One day I'm going to find a little TF on the drive, maybe.

But.... knowing my luck, it will be a City Rover.
I don't like signatures, they take up too much screen space.

AD03WKR is now Wolf.... (Adolph/Adolf - German orig. = Wolf)

Never had a female car...

Mk1 Cavalier..met green = Dino (a bit of a Dinosaur)
Mk1 Ascona .. = 'the Ascona'
Alfa Giulietta = Alf
Alfa Giulietta = 'the white one' ...a brief and terminal relationship
Skoda Estelle = Skippy
Skoda Rapide = Pan ...due to boiling tendency..founder of modern HGF (Head Gasket Failure) :em:
Citroen BX = Beezle (my introduction to wafting)
Citroen ZX Volcane TD = Hens Tooth (which was a male name) or Shovel as Schittoff isn't a proper name (that's enough wafting for now kind of thing)(hold tight there's a matchstick ahead)
406 est= company car
406 est= company car
Picasso = company car
Hyundai V6 gen3 coupe = the gen3
Hyundai gen1 F2 coupe = the F2
Mazda 2 = no name
Skoda Octavia = no name
Rover 75 = Wolf :D

Blue = Diesel

not to mention the Mk1 Escort that spent a lot of time on its roof and was called Oooff!
The Escort was very tough .. unlike the short lived Avenger which was made entirely of 'flimsy'.

Plain for all to see that Wolf is the best of the pack (the Hyundai's were very good...I was emotionally attached to Alf and Skippy was a pet)

Some cars I had used to have names:

1983 Renault 18: I1B (It was those early Star Wars years with R2D2, OB1 etc...)
1996 Rover 620: Cashmere (due to the cashmere interior)

2000 Rover 75 (current): Samarkand and it's a "she"

The reason for the Samarkand name is as follows:
I was looking for a replacement for the Rover 620 and I was checking a 607 Peugeot at that time. In the Peugeot 607 catalogue, they had this blue colour (very close to the Steel Blue) named Samarkand Blue. Then the weekend after, I was at a Rover dealer and was checking the 75. I saw mine and the rest is, as they say history as since then she was mine ;)
From the 607 experience remained the Samarkand name (given to her on the same day the selling act was done) due to her Steel Blue colour and the Sandstone interior which are the main colours of the city of Samarkand in Ouzbekistan (Google for some more images of this nice city) .

My car is black, so I was tempted to name it after the dog in the film Dambusters. However that would certainly not be acceptable in today's society!

So I'll have to go with the SXI in the number plate, and call her SEXY!

PS... If you are a heterosexual male, then cars are female. Otherwise you're getting inside a man every day :o

Hard to miss them really as you've coloured them in! Well, I have no hangups and I have monster cajones. But my car is still female. Same goes for ships... which is surprising really, given the "sailor" stereotype...

I noticed that people called aeroplanes and boats she. I did say...in my very humble and personal opinion that it's okay to think of them as boys or girls...both just as barmy as each other. In my defence I'm only guilty of calling them male names .. :rolling:

I suppose Lesley would be okay... or Jordan ...
