Have you got green as well as greasy fingers? by PaulT

Lot going on at the moment so sorry have neglected the Community.

We are looking to put our house on the market in mid March.

The back garden is hard landscaped with flower borders and tubs.

The front garden has purple slate chippings with a border by the house and tubs.

We are currently decorating and doing all those jobs that need doing – including putting up PVC barge boards – something that I said needed doing when we bought the house 10 years ago - still at least they will be nice and shiny white - and making the house as appealing as we can in this difficult selling times.

So this is where the green fingers come in…………….

Bearing in mind mid March onwards what should we plant, how long will they last and what do we then plant.

You help will be gratefully appreciated – retirement is getting very near so hopefully I will be able to devote adequate time to the 75 and my other hobbies (this working life is a curse).

Thank

Paul

Have you thought about waiting to nearer the time then have a look in the shops or garden centres to see which flowers or in bloom .Then buy them in the pots and plant them in there pots where you need them in your garden.Plus if you do that you can always just lift the pots and take them with you

Thanks for the reply.

Was just trying to be pro-active and thinking about how long some plants stay in bloom. Do not want to keep having to replace them -(being a little pessimistic here expecting the sale to take a long time hence putting it on the market a considerable time before retirement).

In that case have you thought about Penstemons,a variety of colours and flower from early spring to late summer .They are easy to look after and the flowers are really nice.
