. . . which, I hasten to add, I didn't buy . . .

An unmarried mother of two has been sentenced to 5 months in prison for accepting clothes stolen by her housemate during the recent rioting.

Now, I'm not saying that she doesn't deserve 5 months but, one does wonder what the hell is going on when it seems that many of the actual rioters are receiving sentences of 10 weeks, yes I did say weeks, or less.

Sentencing in this country seems to a complete joke.

I believe the law sees a "fence" as more of a problem than the thief. i.e one fence can support many thieves. Therefore are liable to greater sentences.

I read it as her being an 'end user' rather than a fence though I understand what you mean. Seems a bit strange though considering that the looters didn't just steal they also called many thousands of pounds worth of damage.
