Fan resistor upgrade by bertie

Hello all,
I've got the resistor on the way for my 2 speed fan. I've read up on bumper removal etc. but do I have to remove the fan to fit it or can it be done with fan in situ?

It can be done on the Mk1 75 only, not the Mk2 or the ZT

bumper off I'm afraid :). Still it will give you chance to check other things whilst it's off, washer bottle, wiring harness not rubbing on chassis rail. intercooler rings etc. ;)

Hi takestock,
Yes I know I've got to remove the bumber but will I also have to remove the fan/shroud (as described superbly by arctic) or can I just work through the fan blades and replace/connect new resistor.
I'm sure it will become clearer when I see it all but just want to get the info. before I start.

Nimble fingers and you can do it through the fan, i'm doing one next Sat at Andy's meet in Doncaster.
Unplug the fan harness in front of the pass side front wheel, all the switching is on the negative side on the diesel so if you don't and the relay wire touches earth, well count your fingers when the fan has stopped :D :D :D
