came across this on ebay and wondered if it would be of any use in saving head gaskets caused by engine overheating?

Interesting, along the same lines as the Hans gauge it seems. it looks like the temp sensor is simply bolt on to the engine :)

as dave has said, simply an external monitering system. not really a coolant temp sensor if it bolts directly to the side of the block, and does nothing the hans guage does. not a low level warning either, it just detects temp rise, not how much water is in the system. interesting how it senses the block, not the coolant its self. wonder how reliable it is?

Wow, £78 for a thermometer. Call me skeptical but that's some profit margin.

thats what it is in reality, but they want you to think:

Engine Temperature Monitoring System (ETMS), This system can help to prevent overheating due to:

- Coolant loss

- Hose leaks

- Malfunctioning thermostat

- Blockage in the radiator or hose

- Malfunctioning water pump

- Detect any cooling system problem due to the age

so in the eyes of some, that would be £78 well spent
