Yep- the ultimate rash purchase ANOTHER Rover 75 :D Oh well your only young once :D

Well she's still broken sadly, although she won't remain broken as I want to get her on the road asap. She isn't speaking to you though- partly because you wanted to steal her wheels, and partly because you kept her off the road buy not buying her

Yes, the Meteors are still very much there :D

Right it's time for an update...

On Saturday lunchtime the lowloader carrying T262 JOP stopped outside my friends house, and was promptly unloaded.

My first impressions were good, the car was clean and free from dents and scratches. The only bad area was the rear bumper which had managed to sustain damage despite the car being fitted with parking sensors.

When the car was running it ran well, with no rattles from the inlet manifold, or anywhere else in the engine for that matter! I had the on board diagnostics running and the fan cut in as it should.

After filling the expansion / header tank I watched the water run out of the bottom of the car, and after finding where the water was coming from I identified the thermostat as the source of the leak.

I've ordered a new thermostat and a fluid extractor, so this weekend I should be able to tackle the job, and hopefully cure the overheating problem.

I've a couple of other hopefully minor problems to tackle, and then she should be ready for an MOT

Lewis! when the car was down here in Bournemouth its was looked at by the previous owners own garage who diagnosed HG failure. The guy who I left to purchased her (Bill who is a K-Series specialist) diagnosed the same thing, even while it was at auction down here in Poole SWV Auctions it was doomed by many as HGF (Head Gasket Failure).

I'm sorry to say that you could clearly see from the oil cap and dipstick that HGF was present, if this was not the case then I would have defiantly purchased her for myself (but then the original owner would have not been selling her anyway)........

It will be very odd if you manage to fix her with just a new thermostat :rolling: I would be totally amazed along with many others I would think.

Keep us all posted and get some pics up....... :D

Well the other small problems may indicate head problems, however I will work through other possible causes to try and see if it isn't something less serious.

oooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOO! :o :hail: :hail: :hail: :hail: :hail: :hail: :hail:

She is still very sexy, she just seems to have that real strong look about her appearance doesn't she  ...................... cant believe I was going to strip her of those wheels :whump: what was I thinking :rolling: ...............................I wish I blooming had though.....

See that Bristol Street window sticker in the rear window, this is where my wife worked some years ago when they were doing so well (my 75 actually came from Seward's in Bournemouth) history is a funny and interesting thing.

Well! Lewis, be gentle with that beauty you have and can I ask! how did you actually come about her ?

They would look well on your car!

Do you know if Bristol Street are still going as a garage, because I was wondering if they have any sevice history for the car?

I sure will! Once I have fixed her though she will be for sale, like I say she was an impulse purchase, as If I hadn't bought her she would have been weighed in by now!

Still got the prelaunch black PDC sensors I note, but the boot plinth is obviously later (2 badges).

There were quite a few wedgies in the batch, my boss had one that was TxxxJOP. Check the boot for unused wiring!

Since someone has kindly managed to paint the set on MOA if I can find a good Wedgwood bumper with sensors then I will put these ones in MOA.

The boot plinth has already been changed for the early one, and the later one will be going on Midsomer car, to replace the rather worn one currently on her- recycling in action

Oh I'm excited! Where abouts in the boot would the extra wiring be roughly?

It would run down the right hand side and into the wheel well in the same place as the satnav kit, though if the phone kit was removed they may have cut the wiring, or tucked it behind the side trim

Didn't spot if the car had nav (hiline) though.

The car doesn't have highline sadly, however I did remove a phone ariel mount from the rear window... the plot thickens :D
