I've just had my renewal notice & as a result of my recent claim I can't afford it :em: soooo I've compared some Meerkats & still not really much good, tried Adrian Flux but definitely cant afford them & am now trying other comparison sites but they all seem to ask the same question "how much was the claim?" well how the feck do I know? is there any way of finding this out easily or do I have to speak to calcutta?

Could you not make an educated guess? As they are asking you the question, do they actually check?

If you speak directly to a person at AF you may find you get a better response. If you haven't already done so.

Well I suppose so but how much do you get for pretending to have whiplash???

Spoke to someone at AF but there's not enough money in the world to pay what he wanted :(

I presume the third party feigned a whiplash injury from your answer. a minimum of 3 months AHMP came the stern reply.

Maybe check with Dan, PM him your details. You never know.

Oh yes the full works.....personal injury, loss of earnings, death of hanbag crab, loss of whelk the list goes on
As far as damage to the car I reckon £800 would comfortably cover it.

I contacted Dan & he had someone call me back but in my case they weren't competitive

This is one of the reasons Protected no claims comes in very handy.
Sorry to hear you are having all this bother, a specialist broker would by the sound of it be the best solution.

Protected NCB doesn't stop them hiking the price, just means your bonus remains the same as a percentage

Thought maybe an early 75 would be a better option for now but the 2 car's details I tried came out at more than my car

Agree - I had a no fault incident (reversed into in Tesco's car park) and though my NCB was not affected Elephant ramped the premium 50% as I was 'statistically more likely to have an accident'

DO NOT get me started on insurance companies

Strange I never had an increase after a large claim some years back,
My new policy says one claim within three years will not load any extra on premiums other than normal increases shown across board.
Must be some differences with different companies.

Sorry Col. Not good news. :( Just keep trying as many companies as you can. Most that I tried were giving me ridiculous quote too. I'm sure there must be one or two that will be better. :?

Don't sell it!!!!!!

I was just about set on a policy (albeit far too expensive) but realised although I had mentioned my claim it still showed me as having full NCB & when I adjusted that it rocketed :gmc:

Without prying, if married you could become a named driver and have your partner as main driver.
This is legal as long as she is "main" driver.

If you had protected no claims try giving Axa a ring as they give 90% NCD max premium discount.

I didn't :gmc:
I had 10 or 11 clear years but Admiral only give you 5 max & with 2 lost for my claim I'm down to 3 which is not good, just tried the co-op & adding a "sensible" named driver actually increased the premium
I used to have a fantastic local broker who used to beat everyone hands down & was very helpful in the event of a mishap but he's long gone now :(

I know adverts are generally bullshite but Direct Line currently say they will beat any quote and give 12 months cover for price of 10.
