Air vent temperature sensor by raistlin

I have a dual electronic thermometer and I want to use the remote sensor to monitor the air vent temperatures.

Thing is, I really don't want a wire dangling out of one of the air vents so my idea, which I'd appreciate opinions on, is to get to the pipe behind one of the vents and introduce the sensor there, in so doing, being able to have constant vent temperature displayed without the dangly wire.

First of all, is it feasible or a non-starter and if a good idea, what is the simplest way to gain access to the pipework behind a vent?

Thanks for your opinions :)

You can take the dash out and the radio to gain easy access to the pipes. You should be able to drill a small hole and push the sensor in, pre routing the cable.

As to a good idea? Dont see why not. You'd be able to monitor any temp fluctuations more efficiently

You may get it taking just the radio out. Having the dash out would make it easier to see though. Nano job?

I had hoped to get the job done a lot sooner than that David :(

Never had a dash out before though so a bit unsure.

Could always have a mini-nano at your house, Paul?

Thanks to advice and encouragement from David, I got the job done today. I really had no idea how easy it was to remove the dash panels. Cheers David :)
